Katy’s work explores drawing as a mode of creating and as a way to describe or respond to an object, thing, idea or an experience.  It is visual and haptic thinking. Drawing is a way to collect experience or to recall a visual memory. Not purely confined to two dimensions (or traditional drawing materials), she is interested in the relationship between drawing and sculpture, and the relationship between shape, memory and language. Her approach is to gather, research and assemble in various ways.

Previously working in arts education and building-product PR enabled Katy to consider art history, display, communication, space and materials.  She has led family and children's art workshops in schools and museums.

As a Fellow at Digswell Arts Trust, Katy is based at The Forge Studios in Welwyn.
